Amanda Derbyshire - International Show Jumper and Trainer
Trainers - Laura Kraut and Nick Skelton

Amanda grew up in a small town in Lancashire, England. Her mother, Julie, was always passionate about horses, and this sparked Amanda's interest as a young girl. From age five, Amanda spent all of her time with her mother, helping her at the stables where she rode. At age six, Amanda got her first pony and predominantly taught herself how to ride. This success continued into her Junior/Young Rider Years, when she won her first Grand Prix in Istanbul, Turkey, as well as a second-placed finish in the Young Rider Grand Prix at the prestigious Olympia Horse Show in London. Amanda worked hard during her teen years, juggling her academics and show jumping, staying extremely successful in both fields.
After graduating from high school as a straight A student, Amanda further developed her passion for show jumping . She was soon spotted as one of Britain's up-and-coming young talents. This presented her a chance to ride for British Olympian Nick Skelton. There, she competed his younger horses, while Nick competed his top horses on the international circuit. She spent a year working under Nick's guidance and gained invaluable training and experience. At age twenty-one, Amanda traveled to the United States to experience the American Hunter/Jumper world. Initially, she worked for Heritage Farm under Andre Dignelli and Patricia Griffith. During that time, she learned the American system and gained invaluable knowledge about the pony hunter market.
The following year, she met Becky Gochman, and was presented with what would turn out to be a life-changing opportunity. Since 2010, Amanda has worked for the Gochman family, running Baxter Hill Farm, alongside her fellow colleagues. As well as assisting in the training of Mimi and Sophie to major successes in the pony hunter ring. Amanda has also had tremendous success in the Grand Prix ring on David and Becky Gochman's jumpers at all major shows on the North American circuit, including the Winter Equestrian Festival, Devon, Lake Placid, Fairfield, Ox Ridge, Great Lakes, LGCT Miami and many more.
Amanda's most recent results have been winning the CSI4* 1.50m Classic at Liverpool International Horse Show back in December 2017, winning the $70,000 Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup, and coming in 5th place in the CSI5* $384,00 Fidelity Investments Grand Prix at WEF aboard Luibanta BH. Amanda also won both the CSI4* 1.45m Classic and Speed Stake at WEF aboard Lady Maria BH in the same week. The most recent and rewarding win was being part of Great Britain's Team for the CSI4* Nations Cup at WEF in March 2018 aboard Luibanta BH.
Amanda has developed a close relationship with the Gochman's and considers them a second family. She's very passionate about her position and will continue to pursue her riding career for the foreseeable future with the Baxter Hill team.
